The Master of Arts in Teaching
Designed for those who have a bachelor's degree and who want to earn a teaching license along with a master's degree.

Offers several options for in-service teachers, administrators, and other professionals who would like to pursue a graduate degree or coursework related to the field of education.

"REGIE ROUTMAN IN RESIDENCE" COURSES AT CONCORDIA
Concordia University is honored to be one of the first colleges in the nation to offer a course based on Regie Routman's research-based professional development programs in a three-course study (Reading to Understand, Writing for Authentic Purposes, and Reading/Writing Connections). Designed for school leaders, experienced teachers, pre-service teachers, literacy coaches, and K-8 reading specialists, this series can literally transform your classrooms.

Concordia University offers a three-course program of study, Instructor directed, using Regie Routman in Residence DVD-based professional development resources.(2 graduate semester hours each)
  • EDU 523: Transforming Teaching through Reading/Writing Connections (Spring): Educators will gain a deeper understanding of how to effectively teach an optimal learning model that interconnects reading and writing.
  • EDU 524: Transforming Teaching through Writing for Audience & Purpose (Fall): Educators will examine their own beliefs about writing and develop ways to strengthen student writing.
  • EDU 525: Transforming Teaching through Reading to Understand (Spring): Educators will learn how to teach reading so that all students become joyful, independent readers who self-monitor, self-direct, and set meaningful goals as they read.
